Sandbeach Lake Trail
Description:
The Sandbeach
Lake Trail begins from the trailhead at an elevation of 8,344 feet and climbs
to Sandbeach Lake at 10,280 feet in 4.3 miles. The trail begins a moderate
climb to the north through spruce and lodgepole pine. It soon turns west and
climbs over log water bars and rocks, getting a little steeper as it makes
a switchback up the south facing ridge. You get good views of the valley below
and Meadow Mountain as the trail travels through some open areas. The trail
intersects the Meeker Park - Sandbeach Trail after traveling about 1.3 miles.
As it continues on, the trail enters a denser forest and crosses over Campers
Creek over a foot bridge. It then makes a steady climb to the south passing
the Beaver Mill and Hunters Creek campsites. After crossing over Hunters Creek,
the trail makes a steeper climb to Sandbeach Lake. There is a hitch rack to
the right of the trail just before reaching the lake. Horses are not permitted
beyond this point. There is a group campsite to the right and four individual
sites to the left. Sandbeach Lake is a beautiful lake surrounded by high peaks.
