North Deer Mountain Trail

Description:
The North Deer Mountain Trail begins at its intersection with the Deer Mountain Trail just west of Estes Park at an elevation of 8,397 feet. It makes a semicircular path along the north facing slopes to intersect with the west end of the Deer Mountain Trail near the Deer Mountain Trailhead. This trail sees low usage levels.

The trail leaves the intersection with the Deer Mountain Trail on the east and heads northwest at a level walk. It follows the contour of the ridge around numerous draws and gulches above and to the south of the Fall River Valley. It passes through forests as well as open areas giving you great views of the Fall River Valley. The trail is fairly level all the way back to its intersection with the Little Horseshoe Park Trail, about 3.25 miles. From this intersection it turns south making a gentle climb along the edge of Little Horseshoe Park. It soon intersects the Deer Mountain Trail that then leads to the Deer Ridge Trailhead. The overall difficulty level for this trail is easy.
