Mummy Pass Trail

Description:
The Mummy Pass Trail begins on the west from the Poudre River Trail and travels east and north for 9.6 miles to its intersection with the Emmaline Lake Trail just outside the Comanche Peak Wilderness. The first three miles are the most strenuous, climbing from Hague Creek through dense spruce forest. It levels off as it reaches its intersection with the Mirror Lake Trail. From here it makes a more gentle climb to Mummy Pass, skirting the edge of the alpine tundra. There are some boggy spots in the pass but they are not difficult to negotiate.

From the pass, the trail makes a short climb before it descends to the Emmaline Lake Trail. At one point it travels through a very rocky area. Horsemen would be wise to dismount and lead their horses through this area. Look for marmots among the rocks. The trail soon exits the Park and enters the Comanche Peak Wilderness. You'll get a good view of Comanche Peak off to the northwest. The trail follows numerous switchbacks through fields of wildflowers as it descends into dense spruce forest. From here it makes a moderate descent, crossing the wilderness boundary again, to the Emmaline Lake Trail. It is about 2.5 miles to the Emmaline Lake Trailhead.
