Moraine - Tuxedo Park Trail

Description:
      The Moraine-Tuxedo Park Trail is an easy trail to hike. It begins at its junction with the Tuxedo-Hollowell Trail southeast of the Bear Lake Road at an elevation of 7,812 feet. It makes a gradual climb over 1.6 miles to the Moraine Park Campground Road at 8,106 feet. The trail leaves the Tuxedo junction and crosses over the Big Thompson River via a wooden bridge. It turns northwest and travels up to the Bear Lake Road where it crosses under the highway bridge across the river. The trail continues north along the west side of Bear Lake Road and below it. It travels through a picnic area and continues on the other side of a pipe gate. There is good access to the Big Thompson River for fishing along this section of the trail. The trail travels across Moraine Park offering great views of the park and the peaks to the north and west. It travels between some aspen groves just before reaching the Moraine Park Campground Road. This trail receives heavy horse traffic a times.

Directions:
     The Moraine - Tuxedo Park Trail can be reached at its middle from Bear Lake Road. Take Highway 36 from the Beaver Meadows Entrance to the Bear Lake Road. Follow Bear Lake Road for about 1.6 miles to the parking area on the east end of Moraine Park. The trail is just west of the parking area.
