Moraine - Tuxedo Cutoff Trail

Description:
The Moraine-Tuxedo Cutoff Trail connects the Moraine-Tuxedo Park Trail with the Tuxedo-Hollowell Trail. It begins at 8,006 feet and ends at 7,992 feet after passing through 8,088 feet. This easy trail sees low usage.

The trail starts in Moraine Park and travels south over a ridge under a canopy of ponderosa pine trees. There is a lot of grass under these trees making it ideal for elk grazing. Elk often bed down in this area in the afternoon. As the trail tops the ridge, it makes a moderately steep descent toward the Bear Lake Road. You can look down on the road as you descend. It intersects the Tuxedo-Hollowell Trail where it crosses Bear Lake Road. At less than a mile, this trail makes a nice short walk with a chance of seeing wildlife.
