Lake Haiyaha Trail

Description:
The Lake Haiyaha Trail begins from the east end of Dream Lake at an elevation of 9,953 feet and climbs 269 feet to Lake Haiyaha. Lake Haiyaha is a beautiful emerald green lake situated in the middle of a huge boulder field. The trail leaves the Dream Lake Trail and crosses a stream over a bridge. It then begins a moderate climb up the spruce covered north-facing ridge. The trail can be steep in spots in the first quarter mile. After climbing east, the trail turns south and follows the east face of the ridge. Here you'll experience spectacular views of Glacier Basin, Nymph and Bear lakes, and Longs Peak to the southeast. The trail along this stretch makes a gradual descent and is easy to hike. You'll reach the junction with the Lake Haiyaha Cutoff Trail after hiking a total of .7 miles. The Lake Haiyaha Trail turns to the right toward the lake.

From the intersection, the trail makes a gentle climb as you approach the lake. You'll come to the boulder field after about .2 miles. The trail passes to the right of a small pool just below the lake in the boulder field. The rocks are quite large and require some scrambling to get a good view of the lake. The rocks extend completely around the lake making it difficult to navigate around the shore.

This trail is of moderate difficulty to hike. Horses are not permitted on the trail.
