Green Mountain Trail

Description:
The Green Mountain Trail begins from the Green Mountain Trailhead at an elevation of 8,800 feet and climbs east for 1.7 miles to Big Meadows at 9,477 feet. This trail is wide and smooth. It makes a moderate climb along side of a stream through a dense forest. It levels off after about .7 miles and travels past a series of small meadows. Moose or elk might be seen in the meadows in the early morning or late afternoon. After another short climb, it is an easy hike to Big Meadows. This is a very nice horse trail and frequently used by horsemen. There is a hitch rack at the end of the trail, just beyond its intersection with the Tonahutu Creek Trail. This is a fairly easy trail to hike or ride.
