Deer Ridge - Moraine Park Trail

Description:
The Deer Ridge-Moraine Park Trail travels from the Moraine Park Road on the south to Deer Ridge Junction (the junction of highways 34 and 36). It begins at an elevation of 8,105 feet and climbs to 8,892 feet in 2.6 miles. The trail travels through ponderosa pine forest and the open grassy areas of Beaver Meadows. Elk are especially abundant in this area and can often be seen while hiking this trail. This would make a good shuttle hike by parking a vehicle at either end. The trail intersects many of the Beaver Meadows Loop Trails offering opportunities for interesting side trips along the way. This is an easy trail to hike and is a good one for viewing elk.
