Andrews Glacier Trail

Description:
The Andrews Glacier Trail leaves the Sky Pond Trail at an elevation of 10,377 feet and climbs to the base of the glacier at 11,405 feet in about .9 miles. It begins on the south side of Andrews Creek just after crossing over a footbridge. The trail climbs the ridge to the west, following the creek. It turns left after reaching the trail to the Andrews Creek campsite and then continues its climb to the west. The trail breaks out of the forest after about a half-mile. It crosses the creek and continues along the north side of a boulder field to Andrews Tarn (small pond). From here it makes a steep climb to the glacier.

Many hikers use this trail to make a loop from Bear Lake to Flattop Mountain and back via Loch Vale. The climb to Andrews Glacier is moderate most of the way with a strenuous stretch at the end. Horses are not permitted on this trail.
