Allenspark Trail

Description:
The Allenspark Trail connects the Allenspark Trailhead with the Finch Lake - Pear Lake Trail. It begins at an elevation of 8935 feet and climbs to 9640 feet in 1.7 miles. The trailhead is about 1.6 miles north of Allenspark on County Road 90. Parking is limited to 6 to 8 vehicles. There is not much room for horse trailers.

The trail leaves the trailhead and makes a moderate climb to the northwest through a lodgepole pine forest. It alternates between moderate and easy stretches with most of them being easy. Most of the trail travels through dense forest, offering little in the way of views. It intersects the Finch Lake Cutoff - Allenspark Trail in about .75 miles. At one point it makes a steeper climb over some rock steps before leveling off and then making a slight descent to its intersection with the Finch Lake - Pear Lake and Finch Lake Cutoff trails. You get some good views of Mount Meeker toward the end of the trail. This trail is a shorter and easier way to get to the Finch Lake - Pear Lake Trail than via the Finch Lake Cutoff Trail. It is not very crowded and is easy to moderate in difficulty.
