Buchanan Creek

Description:
Buchanan Creek begins in the Indian Peaks Wilderness near Buchanan Pass and flows west where it joins Arapaho Creek before emptying into Monarch Lake. In many stretches this small stream contains numerous logs forming pools containing nice fish. Much of the stream is accessible from the Cascade Creek and Buchanan Pass trails.

Directions:
Buchanan Creek can be reached via the Cascade Creek and Buchanan Pass trails. The Cascade Creek Trail begins at the Monarch Lake Trailhead. Hike 3.4 miles on the Cascade Creek Trail to reach the Buchanan Pass Trail.

To reach the Monarch Lake Trailhead take Highway 34 north from Granby to the entrance of the Arapaho National Recreation Area. Travel east on Forest Road 125 for about 10 miles to the Monarch Lake Trailhead.
