Woodland Lake
Description:
Woodland
Lake is a shallow lake that lies in a valley to the north of Woodland Mountain
in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. Spruce trees line the north and south shores
while the west end is open and grassy. This lake contains primarily cutthroat
trout, though some grayling have been stocked. Most of the shoreline is accessible
for fishing. Camping is allowed with a Woodland Travel Zone permit.

Woodland
Lake can be reached via the Woodland Lake Trail. Take the Devils Thumb Trail
from the Hessie Trailhead for 2.3 miles to the Woodland Lake Trail. Travel two
miles on this trail to the lake. The lake is about 60 yards to the left of the
trail. Areas to the north are best for camping. To
get to the Hessie Trailhead take County Road 130 west from Nederland about 5
miles to the trailhead and the east end of the Devils Thumb Trail.
