Stone Lake
Description:
This
beautiful emerald green lake lies at the head of Hell Canyon in the Indian
Peaks Wilderness. It is a shallow lake containing cutthroat and rainbow trout.
Stone Lake is surrounded by mountain peaks on three sides with large grassy
meadows below it. All of the shoreline is accessible for fishing. Camping
is allowed with a Hell Canyon Travel Zone permit. Open campfires are permitted
here.

Stone
Lake is best reached via the Roaring Fork Trail. Take Highway 34 north from
Granby to the Arapaho National Recreation Area (about 5 miles). Follow Forest
Road 125 for about 10 miles to the Roaring Fork Loop of Arapaho Bay Campground
and the trailhead. Take the Roaring Fork Trail for about 6.5 miles to the lake.
This trail is fairly steep in places.
