Diamond Lake
Description:
Diamond
Lake is a beautiful lake that lies on a bench above the North Fork Middle
Boulder Creek valley. This lake contains a variety of trout including: brook,
cutthroat, rainbow, and splake (a brook x lake trout hybrid). Camping is permitted
in designated campsites only. Most of the shoreline is accessible for fishing.

Diamond
Lake is located in the Indian Peaks Wilderness and can be reached via the Diamond
Lake Trail. This trail connects to the Devils Thumb Trail on the south and the
Arapaho Pass Trail on the north. Take the Devils Thumb Trail from the Hessie
Trailhead for 3.8 miles, then 2.1 miles to the lake. From the Fourth of July
Trailhead, hike about a mile on the Arapaho Pass Trail to the Diamond Lake Trail.
It is about 1.5 miles to the lake. To get to the Fourth of July Trailhead take
County Road 130 west from Nederland to County Road 111 (about 5 miles). Continue
on 111 for another five miles to the Fourth of July Trailhead. The Hessie Trailhead
can be reached via County Road 130 west from Nederland to Eldora. Continue west
on County Road 111 just west of Eldora. Follow the narrow diret road for another
mile to the Hessie turnoff.
