Lake Isabelle

Description:
Lake Isabelle is a beautiful lake fed by the snows of Isabelle Glacier in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. This deep lake contains rainbow trout. Most of its shoreline is accessible for fishing. Some sections have steep rocks down to the shore. It is a popular destination for day hikers and can be crowded at times. Camping is not permitted in this Travel Zone. Fisherman must use artificial flies and lures only.

Directions:
Lake Isabelle is located in the Indian Peaks Wilderness and can be reached via the Pawnee Pass Trail. Take Highway 72 north from Nederland for approximately eight miles to Ward. Turn west on Forest Road 112 and travel about five miles to the Brainard Lake Recreation Area and the Long Lake Trailhead. Hike 2.1 miles to the east end of the lake. The Isabelle Glacier Trail travels along the north side of the lake.
