Description:
Mitchell
Lake is a deep lake located at the end of the Mitchell Creek Trail. It lies
in a rock cirque in the shadows of Pawnee Peak, Mount Toll, and Paiute Peak.
The lake contains cutthroat trout. About half of the shoreline is easily accessible
for fishing. Camping is not permitted here.

Mitchell
Lake can be reached via the Mitchell Creek Trail. Take Highway 72 north from
Nederland for approximately eight miles to Ward. Turn west on Forest Road 112
and travel about five miles to the Brainard Lake Recreation Area and the Mitchell
Lake Trailhead. Hike 2.4 miles to the lake.
