Mitchell Lake

Description:
Mitchell Lake is a shallow lake located just north of the Mitchell Creek Trail in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. It lies in a wet meadow where the shore is lined with willows. The lake contains cutthroat trout and is generally ice free by June. Camping is not permitted at the lake.

Directions:
Mitchell Lake is located in the Indian Peaks Wilderness and can be reached via the Mitchell Creek Trail. Take Highway 72 north from Nederland for approximately eight miles to Ward. Turn west on Forest Road 112 and travel about five miles to the Brainard Lake Recreation Area and the Mitchell Lake Trailhead. Hike .8 miles to the lake.
